How has smoking benefited me?

I look back on my life and wonder what benefits I got from smoking?  Could I post an achievement award for my efforts?  Most puffed in a day?  Most money spent on tobacco in a lifetime? Something related to a Nobel prize would be great. Any ideas? I’m at a loss…

A lot of people use or used smoking as a stress relief. I know I sure did. Going for a smoke almost always forced one to take a timeout from a stressful situation.

So the question that comes to me – how many bad situations or mistakes in judgement did I avoid because of smoking. No way to tell but statistically – not zero either.

I have to agree with you that it probably helped you to a degree, but then again you have to consider that there are also other forms of stress relief. For example, those foam balls you can squeeze. I always refer back to non-smokers and try to assess how they handle life, because it is too easy to find a justification for smoking.

I agree completely with you there. Everyone, be they smoker or non-smoker, their own type(s) of stress release.
